Embedded Systems Engineer for UAS Radio Systems (all genders)

Mödling (next to Vienna), Austria; Part-time or Full-time

As an Embedded Systems Engineer for our long-range multi-radio system, you will play a critical role in the architecture, development and implementation of systems that enable communication between our UA and ground control stations. You will play a key role in a small, fast-moving team of engineers to ensure the seamless integration of radio systems into our UA platforms.

Your tasks

• Designing, developing and integrating inhouse-solutions or/and selecting, modifying, and integrating COTS solutions for multi-radio communication, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability
• Define requirements and specifications, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance
• Implementing communication protocols and algorithms for data transmission and reception between UAS and ground control stations
• Conducting testing and debugging of components to ensure functionality and performance.
• Support flight test crew
• Documenting work, specifications, and test procedures
• Task planning and coordination with other departments e.g., mechanical design
• Staying up-to-date with industry trends and advancements

Your profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field
• Proven experience (>2 years) in the related field, preferably in the aerospace or UAS industry
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and familiarity with embedded software development tools
• Experience with PCB design, EDA programs (preferably KICAD) and communication interfaces including I2C, CAN, SPI, UART, etc.
• Knowledge of micro-controller and microprocessor-based systems (e.g., STM32)
• Familiarity with Single Board computers and Linux based operating systems (e.g., Raspberry Pi)
• From time to time available to work extended hours and/or weekends if needed
• Proficient in English

Desired – if we are allowed to make a wish!

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field
• Proven experience (>5 years) in the related field, preferably in the aerospace or UAS industry
• Experience with DO 178 and DO 254 or similar industry standards like ARP and ISO
• Experience with RF test equipment such as Network & Spectrum Analysers, Power Meters, etc.
• Knowledge of radio frequency (RF) systems and principles
• Fluent in German
